There's this series of tubes called the internet that was invented by Al Gore. Perhaps you've heard of it?
It's a wonderful thing, a powerful tool. But with power comes responsibility, and unfortunately all to often interactive and multimedia designers are more interested in loading projects with the latest hip and flashy features. It doesn't seem to matter to them if that cool interface is completely wrong for your project, or that sweet animation gets in the way of delivering your message. You just paid a small fortune for a shiny bell or fancy whistle that doesn't make the sound you need it to make.
